This weekend’s fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather gained the title “The Fight of the Century”. Millions of people tuned in across the globe to watch Pacman obliterate an arrogant Mayweather. Unfortunately, Mayweather got the better of Pacman and the battle was won in the 12th round. After Mayweather was announced as the winner the crowd at the MGM arena erupted in boos. Mayweather even jumped on the ropes and beat his chest repeatedly proclaiming, “I told you, I told you!” More than 70% of the audience were Pacquiao hopefuls. He was undeniably the fan favorite for this boxing match. Mayweather went to state how September would be his last official boxing match.
There are a lot of people who can’t wait to get this arrogant jerk out of the limelight. Brad Reifler didn’t care that much for the fight, but he was hoping to see the first loss. It’s no doubt that Floyd Mayweather is good at what he does. He has an impressive string of wins and no losses, but that’s all he has. The airwaves this weekend were full of talk about how well Mayweather did in the ring. What followed soon after was how most sports announcers hated talking to or about Floyd. His presence outside of the ring has made him the most hated athlete in the world. It’s devastating to see such a capable and brilliant athlete squander his potential. Mayweather may have a spotless winning streak, but his pride will forever be tarnished by his lack of true fandom.
