Pac-Man Sued By Fans

Many fans were disappointed when Manny Pacquiao, famed Filipino boxer, lost to Floyd Mayweather in a highly-promoted fight this past Saturday. There were issues with satellite providers connecting viewers to the bout, and they are many currently seeking refunds for the pay-per-view purchases, those who did see the fight may have noticed something was off with one of the two fighters.

As reported by NBC, a lawsuit was filed in Las Vegas naming Manny Pacquiao as responsible for damages for failing to disclose a shoulder injury prior to the fight.

Traditionally, as was the case with this event, both athletes are given disclosure forms to inform the venue of any injuries they may have that may or may not influence the decision to go ahead with the event. In this instance, as the lawsuit claims, Manny declared that he had no injury to his shoulder and was prepared to fight.

This class action suit, seeking $5 million, comes after a post-fight interview where Pacquiao informed the world via press conference that he had a torn rotator cuff he suffered through during his May 2nd fight. In addition to this, the boxer could also face disciplinary actions from boxing officials in Nevada, including fines and suspensions from future bouts for withholding the details of this injury. NJBiz and The Aspire New Brunswick noted that according to the Nevada Athletic Commission, an investigation is underway to confirm Pacquiao’s injury and why he failed to inform them of this prior to the fight.
