UFC Fight Night Bigfoot Vs. Mir

Frank Mir will be taking on Bigfoot Silva on February 22, in the main event of UFC Fight Night Bigfoot vs. Mir. This is a big fight for both competitors. Mir and Bigfoot have been looking lackluster as of late. Both fighters have suffered several crushing defeats, and a loss for either fighter could prove to be the end.

Mir vs. Bigfoot should be an exciting fight, and the big fans like Ray Lane can’t wait,  but it could also end up being a one sided fight. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is a giant man that possesses well rounded skills in all facets of mixed martial arts.

Frank Mir will have his hands full against the giant wonder. Mir is a former UFC heavyweight champion, but that is before he suffered a life threatening motorcycle accident. Since the accident, Frank Mir has never been the same. Bigfoot Silva may prove to be too much for the aging former champion. Frank Mir’s strength is his Jiu Jitsu, but Bigfoot is no slouch in that department either.

I predict that Bigfoot Silva will knock Frank Mir out before the third round. For more information on UFC Fight Night Bigfoot Vs. Mir, visit Yahoo! Sports.

Bruce Levenson, Businessman and Philanthropist

Bruce Levenson has many roles including businessman, NBA team owner and a philanthropist.

He’s probably best known as the co-owner of the Atlantic Hawk’s basketball team and the Phillips Arena. He also serves as the Hawk’s Governor on the NBA Board of Governors since 2004.
Mr. Levenson was born in Washington DC though he grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He would attend the Washington University in St. Louis as an undergraduate. He went on to graduate from Law School at the American University. Still in law school, Mr. Levenson began a career in journalism working for the Washington Post.

In 1977, he helped co-founded the United Communications Group (UCG) with partner Edward Peskowitz. Mr. Levenson describes UCG as a portfolio of professional business companies. They started in Mr. Levenson’s apartment. The company was primarily a newsletter called Oil Express. The paper reported on new developments in the area of oil industries. In time, they acquired such newsletters and launched databases such as the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS). He is still involved with the company.

In 2004, he helped form the Atlanta Hawks LLC, with other businessmen, in order to purchase the Atlanta Hawks from Turner Broadcasting. He also bought rights to the Atlanta Thrashers. He sold both the team and rights to Philips Arena to a group from Manitoba in 2011.

Mr. Levenson and his wife Karen are also active in different philanthropic ventures. One of which is special to him due to family origins. Mr. Levenson is one of the founders of the US Holocaust Museum. He also donates to both the SEED Foundation and the SEEDS of Peace Foundation. Mr. Levenson has also served as president for the I Have A Dream Foundation, which helps lower-income students attend higher education. They are also responsible for the creation of the Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at the University of Maryland.

Dave Bautista is The Kurgan

Dave Bautista is quite the villain these days. He first achieved fame as a heel (bad guy) in the WWE years back. Now, he is playing “heavies” in major motion pictures.

Bautista is playing bad guys in the new James Bond movie SPECTRE and the remake of Jean Claude Van Damme’s classic film Kickboxer.

Yeah, Bautista does make a perfect bad guy. He is big and mean looking on television and in the wrestling ring. On interviews, it is pretty obvious he’s a nice guy. He is also a great choice to play the vile, brutal character of The Kurgan in the new Highlander movie.

Rebooting Highlander has not exactly been easy. Perhaps this is par for the course considering the strange history of the series.

The motion picture series had its ups and downs, but it built a strong fan following on Facebook that I noticed Zeca Oliveira was in on.The television series was successful and the theme of an immortal Highlander getting into a lot of sword fighting mayhem surely appeals to action fans.

Attempts to bring Highlander back to the big screen have stalled and, as of right now, there is no star attached to play the lead role. (Ryan Reynolds bailed out to star in the Marvel Comics’ Deadpool movie) The series does have a really great actor to serve as the villain.

Jermain Taylor Needs Help

Jermain Taylor was once a great middleweight boxing champion. In recent years, Taylor has had his share of difficulties in and out of the ring. In 2007, Jermain Taylor was brutally knocked out by Kelly Pavlik. Taylor would continue to lose, and he would continue to get knocked out by his future opponents.

Jermain would begin a terrible downward spiral in his personal life as well. On January 19, he was arrested for threatening a family with a handgun. Taylor has been evaluated by many psychiatrists, and they have said that he needs advanced physiological help. The psychiatrists also say that Jermain Taylor should not be sent to prison. He needs real help, and a prison will not help his future.

Boxing is a sport in which the athletes are hit in the head hundreds of times in a match. Jermain Taylor has been viciously knocked out in his last few fights. Many studies have shown the link between chronic brain trauma and extreme aggression. The discussions on reuters.com that I my friend Brad Reifler and I both get pretty into, are talking like Taylor may be showing signs of severe brain damage. In the past, Taylor was a quiet and well spoken young man. Today, Jermain Taylor is a completely different person.

Head trauma is something that cannot be avoided in boxing. Fighters are encouraged to cause as much physical damage to their opponents as possible.
